It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beloved Chris Lang, a true legend in the worlds of Canadian Sport and Business. Chris passed away on Sunday August 22, 2021 after a courageous and hard fought health battle. Chris’s career and innovative genius, which spanned more than half a century, touched and transformed the Canadian sports and business landscape. Known for his ability to take risks and creatively innovate and identify new and untapped opportunities, Chris mentored many current business leaders and CEO’s of some of Canada’s largest and brightest brands, and leaves them in words Chris often shared – “leave other people better than how you found them.” One of Chris’s greatest joys was working with people. Over the span of his career he delighted in working with clients, LANG Alumni “Langsters” and his employees. He was someone who wanted to know how to support and make an idea or person better. Often in the background, Chris is highly regarded for mentoring and championing people in his life. From the parking attendant to a CEO, Chris often knew not just your name, but an important part of your story. We are so grateful for each person that knew him and for the way people made his life and legacy so bright.
From some of Canadian and international sports most well-established properties, to ground-breaking corporate brand partnerships, to his philanthropic legacy in the creation and launch of Sport at the Service of Humanity; a global initiative he was commissioned to guide by the Vatican, they have been forever changed. Chris was a Canadian Business trail blazer and influenced business globally. During his career he had 15 offices worldwide. His desire to impact sport and evolve with the market for over 50 years is something we honour and celebrate. Chris Lang, businessman, leader, innovator, mentor and risk taker, will also be immensely missed by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends and loved ones.
An example to many in how to live a meaningful life, Chris continues to inspire people at LANG and around the world. The visionary leadership Chris had since 1968 continues today as Lang Partnerships Network continues forward. We are so grateful for his life, and will continue to honour his legacy.
